FONTS UNDER THE DESIGNERS CONTROL?
20.08.08
With the release of Safari 3.1 comes something all web designers will welcome, the freedom to use whichever font works best with their design. This is as opposed to compromising with one of the 'safe' fonts that are universally recognised across the various browsers.
Safari 3.1 rather cleverly recognizes any custom fonts that have been used by the website designer and downloads them on the fly.
Currently this isn't commonplace across all browsers and of course will take a long time to become the norm as the older versions of the major browsers lose their share of the browser market. However it is definitely a massive step in freeing the bounds of typography within web design without the need to add images
